The Cathedral Quarter are delighted to announce that the Church Lane street has been fully power washed. We had been hoping to get the job completed last Friday but because of technical hitches this was not possible. Yesterday, we power washed a small patch outside No. 11 Church Lane and the steps on the left hand side of the Lane. We would like to thank Johnny Connors for a loan of his power washer to make this possible and to Donnan Harvey, Michael McElwee and Peter Nolan for access to water. A big debt of gratitude to committee members James Cullen, David Faughnan, Paddy Friel, Jim Lynch and Donnan Harvey as well as volunteer Fionnian ODonnell for all their hard work in washing the pavements and steps. If the installation of water metres and the introduction of water charges is to become a permanent fixture, we as a community group alone will find it extremely difficult or next to possible to carry out this type of work. But we are willing to work with other bodies in the future to possibly carry out this type of work on pavements elsewhere in the Cathedral Quarter. The results have been amazing as it would be safe to say that Church Lane has the cleanest footpaths in Letterkenny if not Donegal. Donnan, Secretary
