The Company You Keep – By Allan Nation The Stockman Grass Farmer Take care with the company you keep. You can’t teach a pig to fly. It is not only a waste of your time, but it annoys the pig. Don’t make it tougher on yourself by trying to drag a bunch of squealing pigs up the success ladder with you. Peer pressure is designed to contain someone who shows a sense of drive. The best way for unsuccessful people to cope is to try and make sure no one is successful. You can’t afford to be popular with negative people. Surround yourself with people most like the person you want to become. You always become more like the people you associate with and less like those you don’t associate with. Success is indeed contagious, but so is failure. Take care with the company you keep.
