The Complete Idiots Guide to Creating a Graphic Novel that Steve Lieber and I wrote sold around 30,000 copies. Doing something like that, you know that not every person who reads it is going to turn around and create significant comics works... although weve heard from some who have (as well as some folks already better-established in the comics field than we were who bought it anyway, to my confusion.) But there was one guy who blogged about the book when he read it, because some of the intended humor of the book worked... and now, years later, he dropped me a line and said that its done, its ready to go, the graphic novel that the book drove him to make. And Im happy because the book helped him along this path, and because the book he made is clearly his. He didnt make some generic psuedo-Watchmen or yet another zombie book.
