The Demons won their 1st SLC Tourney game in 8 years (2006) today by a 10-8 margin over Lamar. The win marks another milestone in the 2014 season by doubling last years win total at 32. Proud of this group not only for continuing to do things that havent been done at NSU for quite some time, but also for battling their tails off to get this win today, Head Coach Lane Burroughs said. 5 Demon hitters had a multi hit game with JR catcher C.J. Webster leading the way with a 2-4/4 RBI day including his 1st HR as a Demon. Webster was followed by Caleb Dugas who hit the go ahead HR in the top of the 9th inning. Cort Brinson was 2-4/1 RBI, Chino Gomez was 2-5, Chase Daughdrill was 3-5, and Nick Heath was 3-4. On the mound, Austin Tanner threw 3 innings in relief allowing just 2 runs, and Evan Tidwell worked 1.1 innings. Brandon Smith came on for the second day in a row and recorded the win. With the win, the Demons advance to 3rd round of the SLC tourney and will play with loser of the Sam Houston vs. Southeastern game tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
