The Dharnas have reached a blind alley. Negotiations between - TopicsExpress

The Dharnas have reached a blind alley. Negotiations between political parties are unlikely to make any headway. Army is the the hot favourite to play the role of a game changer. It already has done so...but subtly. The Army has limitations. Firstly, it already has a lot on its plate. Its embroiled in fighting a war, its also involved in internal security & handling natural disasters eg floods etc. Secondly, direct military intervention shall lead to an immediate suspension of both military & civil aid to Pakistan by the US, as per US Law in vogue. This the country cannot afford, at least presently, for the already cited reasons. On the other hand, in consequence of the Dharnas things shall not remain the same in Pakistan. If the crisis does not resolve, Pakistan is fast heading towards bankruptcy & civil war. This does not mean that the Army has not played a role to resolve the crisis. It has (almost certainly) asked the PM to step down but, in his resolve to go down as a Shaheed (probably also advice by the PPP) the PM, has declined. So what next? The parliamentarians are being exposed, ruthlessly as an outcome of the Dharnas & also by the media (also in consequence of parliamentary proceedings being aired). The corrupt PPP is still supporting the corrupt PML(N), ostensibly under the COD but actually out of mutual interest. Is it fair for a parliament, which is a product of rigged elections to hide behind the mask of constitutional protection & the Rule of LAA (quoting KJ), while the poor people of Pakistan savour the impoverishments of DEEMOCRAZY? That Pakistan can prima faci not manage its own problems, it appears to be an enemy of itself. However can the World allow a nuclear state to fall? If so, the US shall be the first to retrieve our nuclear assets & shall then probably leave Pakistan to fend for itself in poverty & hunger. In such scenario there is a possibility for Pakistan to disintegrate into pieces. In order to prevent that the Army will probably act. The timing of the same is best known to itself. One can only hope that it should not be too late. However, this time its not just the wings of PML(N) which need to be clipped...its shud include all those parties who stand for the COD. How the PPP & the MQM fare in the next few days is pertinent. The bane of Pakistan has been that we have had hybrid martial laws & hybrid civilian govts eg if Gen Mush had finished off MNS & Co (Zardari included) in 1999 (& he cud have then done so) then we wud not be facing such pathetic music today. If martial law is to be imposed this time, then it shud be imposed, in its naked form, without fear or favour to anybody & the often previously stipulated period of 90 days, need not be a part of the equation. That the LIARs movement has proven to be a failure & was instrumental to the exit of Gen Mush & the end of a prosperous era for Pakistan & that judicial bias is now loud & clear, its the judicial BUTTS which need to be kicked first. Other (Gulloo) Butts will follow. There is presently a VOID which even the duo of Dr TUQ & IK has been unable to fill. That void can be very well filled by Gen Mush. Therefore, we all need to rise to the occasion, to come out & PROTEST FOR MUSHARRAF.
