The Direct Democracy option: So if Australians are seriously contemplating or thinking about how we change the current state of affairs regarding polarisation and the growing gap between poor & wealthy, then maybe look into the following as one of the many options availed to us as citizens. Direct Democracy and non-representative based government is now possible, just ask the Swiss. If you are able to contemplate an economy based on viable sustainability rather than corrupt forms of capitalism manipulated by a hegemonic 1% and less, then please take the Occupy Movement seriously. Academics and others have proven to us that new possibilities are an actuality and not just an impractical pipe dream. If all citizens have access to deciding on policy and its formation via computers and administered via a meritorious public service, we the people will have no need for politicians any more. If a citizen wishes to defer their choices to a policy voting program then this is now achievable. People are losing trust in politicians because they can never truly ‘represent’ our views and thinking on matters that concern us, so why not do without, as we can now. The evolution of a new public service and its access is something the people can grow and develop together.
