The Faculty of Education is hiring instructors for EDUC 440: Aboriginal Education in Canada! The course is intended to provide teacher candidates with opportunities to explore how a school program may need to be modified to respectfully and meaningfully integrate Aboriginal history, content, and worldviews. The course will examine the role of Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing in Aboriginal societies to provide educators with ways to use this knowledge in their classroom, school and community planning. The overall goal is to assist those becoming professional educators to contribute to transforming Aboriginal education in order to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal learners and enhance the learning opportunities for all students. The successful applicant should be knowledgeable about the inclusion of Aboriginal history, content and worldviews in the K-12 curriculum and/or have experience working in Aboriginal education. Aboriginal educators are encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a masters degree. Course instructor duties include teaching, meeting with students, marking assignments, and attending orientation meetings as well as follow-up sessions, where applicable. Letters of application should contain: a current CV including a summary of Teaching Experience at the university level, teaching evaluations if available and the names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers of three referees.
