The Fourth Pie. Chomsky may object to my publication of these pictures of pie manufacture and consumption but this is a special pie. This is the fourth pie made by the Brook Green Chapati Company (my nom de cuisine) for adding to the menu of future restaurant Chez Hobo. The first pie, made in a deep but small casserole dish, was a bit heavy to eat, largely because I made the dough myself and it had too much butter and not enough water. The second was made using shortcrust ready rolled pastry dough but in the deep dish. It, and the previous one, was a beef pie. Amazing and spiced beef - organic, rump steak. With shallots and courgette, in the second one. The first one was mushrooms and shallots. The second pie was not bad, but was way too large. So I bought new pie wotsits. The third pie was pretty good (a chicken curry pie), almost ideal - but was heated at too high a temperature, so the top went very brown before the rest. Thus the fourth one is (another chicken curry pie) the first one made excellently and to order. The best bit is that it has 270 calories including a soup starter (peas 30, pastry 100, chicken curry 80, soup starter 60) - an entire filling meal with only 270 calories in it. pretty good going. and the chicken was obviously organic.
