The Foxton Spring Fling event today was sucessful and hundreds of people attended, the antique shops and stalls had interesting vintage gadgets and paraphanalia. Cleo Timekey, Mrs Hudson (the younger) and Colonel Hawthorne attended in his horseless carriage. We did not spot others of our community, if you attended please post photos. The local musicians were good, the Japanese drumming superb and they had a wonderful organ playing pictured built in 1800 and something that has been beautifully restored and we inspected its back end workings of belts wheels, levers and paper music. I found a lovely oak sewing box for $2 that needs its insides restoring, the Colonel found a brass car horn, a tigers tooth and interesting brass bits for our Victorian cabinet. The antique shop in Main Street is well worth a visit (has a range of brass guages medium and large and many other desirable things). We visited Levin secondhand shops where we spotted a star trek pocket watch and chain with leather case....$180, and went into the Otaki geek shop. The occasional spots of rain, cloudy weather and chilly zyphers did not stop us having fun. Well worth another visit when op shops are open and to visit the flax museum and other historical site. Perhaps when the weather gets a bit warmer?
