The George W. Bush Administration and his Right Wing minion wanted - TopicsExpress

The George W. Bush Administration and his Right Wing minion wanted to eliminate the U.S. constitutional Church State barrier to using taxpayer money for fund religious activities, so their marketing geniuses invented Faith Based, initiatives, which in reality means Religious. There are now oodles of taxpayer supported religious indoctrination activities usually disguised as service organizations. Do you mind? I do. The usual more neutral arbiters of such matters in the news media reacted two ways. Some saw through the ruse and refused to take the bait, ignoring faith based. Otners, like Minnesota Public Radios Christa Tippett saw this as a way to discuss religious beliefs on public radio, which usually kept an arms length from endorsing religion in such public forums. Though Tippetts show alleges neutrality vis a viz the usual tenets of most religions (e.g. Existence of a Diety, afterlife, sin) in fact those concepts are infused throughout the show and are a given. Tippett frequently appears on Kerri Millers MPR morning show to discuss Faith Based activities, a notion obviously near and dear to Ms. Millers heart. Miller has round tables to discuss such issues as morality and almost never includes philiosophers or other scholars who are not members of the organized clergy. After all, it IS Faith Based. The Obama Administration recently presented Ms. Tippett with the National Humanities Medal, for her NPR Speaking of Faith show, later changed to On Being, continuing the political support or religion at taxpayers expense. The shows name was changed to accommodate people who saw it for what it is, a vehicle for promoting religion. Now she periodically invites scientists and non-believers on her show periodically to discuss religion. The fact these participants are officially described as non-believers is telling. Non-believer is a way of saying Them, to distinguish them from Us, the righteous believers.
