The Haram in the Boko Here we are, aloof and - TopicsExpress

The Haram in the Boko Here we are, aloof and woebegone Besieged by vicious marauders Here in this robbed sanctuary That was in the era gone by A bastion of grace, of bliss and hope. Here we are, bewitched and sucked By monstrous predators holding sway Whose excesses are devoid of boarder Whose exploitative exploits Make our woes worse with every sun that sets Whose gauge of delight Is but that melancholic strains Echoing our cries from the doldrums Of hunger, disease and pestilence. Here we are dwelling in fast fading hope With upsurge of new baneful, lethal monsters Who but just a while Were with us and like us In this receptive end of servitude But for mysterys knows why Like a thunderous whirlwind Poised for calamitous escapade Upon us they descend with sinister fiat. And with a devil induced declaration Of so much more Haramin our Boko So much blood of mankind must they shed To atone for the sins of Boko that abound Which in their sacred estimations Make the land a breeding fortress for evil. Alone amidst protracted silence I sat still staring at stillness of time Letting my heart a loose to gallivant Upon the stillborn that is the epitome Of the rainbow opportunities of yesteryears That were abused rather than used And upon the travails and trials of today Which like devilish incantations Are off the track of rhyme and rhythm. Ignoring the vanity of undisclosed thesis Of self imposed mental exposition Tactfully in my hearts eye I narrow the gaps so many And so wide of deliberate omissions And huge commissions too that ought not to be A part or a parcel of our tainted destiny. Gradually but with upsetting trauma Of hunting nostalgia I caught glimpse of how this Haram thing Crept in to twine the threads of the Boko. The Boko which in my mothers tongue Meant and still means Those knowledges of wisdom and writing Of the white man of the West And all their allied tributes Of culture and civilized ways That were alien to, and ab initio objected by The Hausa man in the lands north But eventually imposed on him all the same Through both persuasive and repressive apparatus Of the majesty and might of imperialism And Haram the juxtaposing partner to Boko Was and still is, any act or thing Sanctioned with precise decisiveness As prohibitive in the sight of Islam By which devoid of liberty of selectivity Willy-nilly all adherents must abide. Here then lies the logic even if farfetched The Boko induced, pen driven atrocities; The highfaluting skyscrapers that dot the land Epitomizing unbridled grab and thievery The prolonged reign of nepotism A thriving polity marshaled by misfits A compromised force and salable justice All these and far worse classical cases Of dirty deals and slaughterous consequences Which are also facts behind that rating Of Global Corruption Perception Index Which for years rolling in row Told our bizarre tale in damning epitaph. The summation of these oddities Are in thought and in the realm of reality The Haram in the Boko. Beyond the Haram apparent in the Boko Is the Haram most fatal Of these hand-chopping-throat-cutting Haramists Who in devils name miscarry Allahs will. A reference so unequalled in Devine supremacy The Quran which all Muslims devoid of dissent Behold with awe and innermost reverence Equates in its fifth chapter, the thirty third verse The weight of sin for he that kills a fellow being To the killing of entire human race This says He, the Omniscient He that extols beyond scale and measure The sanctity of a single soul of man.
