The Kasungu District Health Office (DHO) has launched a blood donation campaign in a quest to meet the ever increasing demand of blood in the district. According to the district’s Health Officer, George Talama, on average, the hospital needs about 350 pints of blood every month. But they are accessing only 120 pints, a development Talama says has put them in a dire situation. The DHO told the Malawi News Agency that the district hospital could not manage to rely on the blood from the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service only as the demand is still high. The response of the people in this quest would motivate us into collecting more blood for the benefit of all,” Dr. Talama said. The medical doctor emphasized on the need of collaborative efforts amongst all players in their call to access more blood.
