The Lake Howell Hawks are pleased to announce that we are now officially a Certified Heads-Up Football Program. Last night our Player Safety Coach and Assistant Player Safety Coach held our first training clinic. Over 30 coaches and team parents attended the clinic to obtain their Heads-Up Certification. Every Head Coach and nearly every Assistant Coach was present for the clinic; those few that were unable to attend will be attending a makeup clinic and will be certified prior to 8/1/14. The next phase of the program is to train players and parents. Be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks and throughout the season. Information regarding this program will be presented at our mandatory league-wide parent meeting, and each head coach will address key facets of this program at parent meetings and practices throughout the season. Being Heads-Up Certified is a huge development for our league. This training system reinforces how we safely teach and play the game at Lake Howell. It is a voluntary certification; but our program will benefit by participating in this system. We expect other organizations to our lead in becoming a fully certified program with 100% coach participation.
