The Lone Ranger is about to be released. Hopefully the part of Tonto will free this roll from previous stereo types. As Johnny Depp is playing this character, I hope he does it justice. I have looked him up, and he is indeed 1/4 Cherokee . Wes Studi, who is a Native American actor would play this part with impeccable dignity. He can be compared to Denzel Washington, Anthony Hopkins or Graham Green with his innate grace and presence. Although he is much older than many of us think, he would due justice to this part. Other very good Native American actors to play this role, Adam Beach or Darren E. Burrows.
