The Man of Her Dreams? I’m not allowed to wear a cap, She says it messes up my hair. The motor home stayed in the driveway, And I can’t go anywhere. She tells me my shirt is wrinkled, And I smell like I need a shower. She says I should eat more daintily, My food I should not attack and devour. My table manners are appalling When I drink, I should not slurp, Keep your elbows off the table, And in front of others, it’s rude to burp. I should wait for others, Before I inhale my dessert. She tells me I’m way too lazy, And at doing nothing, I becoming an expert. My eyebrows are getting too bushy, And my hair in my nose is too long. All my clothes are the wrong style, And most of what I do is wrong. She tells me I’m grouchy and look mad, And at me she shouts and screams. And frequently reminds me that I’m no fun, But yet I’m the man of her dreams! She thinks I selfish and thoughtless, And that I’m prone to procrastinate. That I should shave every morning, And I have a proclivity to exaggerate No motorcycle nor ultra-light can I have, Those are off limits and extremes. The bird and deer I cannot hunt, But yet I’m the man of her dreams! M. T. Whallete © 2001
