The Metabolic Power of Awareness - Part 2 of My Notes from the Slow Down Diet by Marc David Have you ever heard someone say - Just thinking about food makes me gain weight? It may be true. The body produces insulin when you simply look at a piece of cake or fantasize about a bowl of pasta. Insulins job is to help metabolize carbohydrates or sugar in our meals. In excess amounts insulin signals the body to store fat and inhibit muscle growth. The digestion of a carbohydrate literally begins in the mind - therefore fantasizing about forbidden foods such as desserts and pastries produces insulin levels that can be artificially high that are sitting there with nothing to do. The point is not to stop fantasizing about waffles and ice cream. The point is to eat it (the best quality version of it), be aware that you are eating it, get the satisfaction (CPDR) your brain is requiring, and move on to the next life experience. If you get what you want - you wont need to be constantly thinking about what you dont have. It is simple.
