The NF Joint Fire District is placing a 2.5 mill EMS Levy (5 year ) on the November ballot to provide 24/7 EMS coverage for the Village of Newton Falls & Newton Township residents. The District has never been funded for EMS since the District was formed in 1994. This levy if approved will enable to provide two (2) part-time personnel each day. It will also allow funding for EMS equipment replacement. The District is currently using a 2006 & 2001 ambulance for EMS calls. The Fire District has been providing staffing for EMS on Days (7 am – 3 pm) & Midnight (11pm – 7am). During non-staffing hours (3pm – 11pm) Volunteer Paid-Per-Call personnel respond when available cover the non-staffing hours. Day Shift staffing began in August 2006 with two part-time personnel and Midnight Shift staffing began in August 2010. EMS has been running in the red and the current & past Fire Board Trustees have addressed this shortfall since providing this service. Currently a Levy is the only viable solution to continue this important service to the community. We ask all citizens to approve this Levy on November 3rd by voting Yes for the Levy.
