The Richland County Democratic Party (RCDP) Executive Board has recently encountered two vacancies. The two positions currently open are County Chair and 3rd Vice Chair. (Their duties and responsibilities are listed below.) In order to fill these vacancies, the RCDP Executive Board is accepting resumes to fill these two positions. Resumes can be submitted to the RCDP Secretary in one of two ways: by mail at P.O. Box 446, Columbia, SC 29202 or by email at info@richlandcountydems. Resumes must be received either way by 5:00 pm on Monday November 17, 2014. If the submission is by e-mail, we ask that you indicate in the Subject line if you are applying for the County Chair or the 3rd Vice Chair Position. Included in your resume we will need your name, address, preferred phone and email. The selection process will be completed at the regular Monthly meeting which is scheduled for Thursday November 20, 2014 at the Cooper Branch of the Public Library. County Chair Duties The County Chair is the leader and presiding officer of the County Democratic Party. The County Chair is responsible for a multitude of duties including working with the County Executive Committee and the Precinct Officers to organize and strengthen the Party at the county level. A County Chair should be outgoing, self-motivated, and organized. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: · Learn party rules and state laws concerning candidate filings, fees, and procedures; · Ensure that all candidate filing procedures are complied with and completed for the appropriate agency, including state and county election commissions and the SC Ethics Commission; · Establish a budget, to be developed with other party officers, and approved by the County Party Executive Committee; · Recruit and train qualified, enthusiastic, and responsible people to serve as precinct presidents or precinct coordinators in every precinct in the county; · Conduct and chair Meetings of the County Executive Committee; · Promote and support the message of the DNC and SCDP; · Bring together diverse groups within the Democratic Party and the local community; · Raise funds to support local operations; · Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and volunteer programs; · Build and maintain a local Party database based on SCPDP VAN; · Organize and assist local Democratic Clubs and organizations · Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the local media and represent the Party with local media · Represent the county party to candidates, officeholders, and local, state, and national Democratic organizations; · Supervise party office staff authorized by the County Executive Committee; · Recruit and developed qualified candidates for elected office; · Organize precinct reorganization meetings and County conventions; · Open local campaign headquarters during election season ; · Work with the SCDP to develop a local GOTV campaign including targeting and canvassing voters 3rd Vice County Chair Duties The 3rd Vice County Chair is to be a person under the age or 30, work alongside the Young Democrats and College Democrats, develop a Young Democrat chapter, and perform duties as assigned by the County Chair.
