The Scriptures reveal that the (1 or 2-day) Rosh Chodesh (New Moon) festival is a time of rest. The Yisraelites during ancient times knew that it was a sacred rest period, similar to the shabbats. Also, the context of Ezekiel chapter 46, and numerous other Scriptures conclusively prove and confirm beyond all shadow of doubt that the new moon festival (which is 1 day, following a 29-day month, or 2-days whenever a 2-day conjunction causes a 30-day month) is a time of rest. In Ezekiel chapter 46, we read evidence that the eastern gate to the inner court of the Temple in Jerusalem was closed during ALL of the six days of work,....and it was ONLY opened during the shabbats and the day of the new moon (beginning at dawn after the first visible waxing crescent new moon has been sighted by multiple watchmen). This day of the new moon would be either the 1st day of the new month after a 29-day month ends,....or the 1st day of the new month after a 30-day month is concluded. The 2-day New Moon festival which occurs whenever a monthly lunar cycle is 30-days begins with the 1st day of it being a time of rest and preparation for the 2nd day of the festival, which is the main and most important part, because it begins at dawn after the first visible waxing crescent is seen by multiple eyewitnesses during the previous nighttime. This is what the Sovereign Yahuah says: The gate of the inner court facing east is to be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it is to be opened. (Ezekiel 46:1) Whenever the eastern gate was open,...everyone would worship the Most High Creator, do sacrifices, feasting, celebration, etc.The new moon festivals were always a time of rest and celebration, same as the shabbats, but in a different context (with the new moons renewing each monthly cycle, and the shabbats renewing each weekly cycle. The credible historical records confirm precisely what the Scriptures contextually reveal about these sacred appointed times of rest and worship. The people of the land shall bow down at the entrance of that gate before Yahuah on the Sabbaths and on the new moons. (Ezekiel 46:3) Here is a Scripture which specifically shows that the context of the New Moon festival is that it is a time of rest : saying, When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?— skimping the measure, boosting the price and cheating with dishonest scales, (Amos 8:5) Whenever someone asks, When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?,...the context is directly showing that the grain/wheat is not sold at the market on neither of the two time-periods of rest, the New Moon festival and also the Shabbat. This is a prophecy of the future, when our Creator will be worshipped during these appointed, set-apart times : From new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me, declares Yahuah. (YashaYahu/Isaiah 66:23) These Scriptures specifically show that the new moon festivals and shabbats are set-apart times of rest and worship of Yahuah, with the eastern gate to His Temple being opened. The only times that the gate was closed,....was on weekly work-days. When Messiah returns to Earth, He will rebuild the Tabernacle of David, and all nations will worship the King.
