The Seventh Man in the Postponed Kingdom... Part 5. She should pray? Since neither of Judahs sons shared the faith of their father, I doubt if Tamar would have any ideas in her mind about how to recover that which seems lost, except by the wisdom of this world. Or what would you expect a young woman twice widowed with no offspring to do? Would you have expected her to pray? To which God? The gods of her people or the God the husbands never honoured in their lifetimes? Or you want to assure her that Judah will give Shelah to her (as he promised) when he is grown? It seems the only option available to Tamar will be to seek and take the willy-nilly counsel of desperate girls! And you can be sure that a girl in Tamars situation will get street-smart advice. And so, Judah was in for a show. A show he was never prepared for. In all this, the old man never seemed to recognise that he had abandoned God and disgrace was waiting for him at the corner. A man who chooses to walk in the way of the world will always be outsmarted by the world. Afterall, Jesus said that the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light. Tamar resorted to acting the game of the street girl. Is it not surprising that Judah never knew what this girl he married for his sons was capable of doing? The mistake of yesterday rebounds to be the albatross of tomorrow. What error of the past is still there waiting in your life for an opportunity? Let me remind you, your unconquered weakness is the thief in your destiny. To be continued...
