The South Gauteng High Court has ordered that Woolworths and BDS - TopicsExpress

The South Gauteng High Court has ordered that Woolworths and BDS South Africa meet before December 10, to settle the dispute between the two. The human rights organisation has headed up peaceful demonstrations outside the retailer’s stores, calling for Woolworths to cut its trade relations with Israeli companies. Earlier this month, Woolworths asked the court to force the organisation to halt demonstrations at its stores, citing concerns for its customers. Meanwhile, Woolworths will be hosting its Annual General Meeting in Cape Town tomorrow. And several of its shareholders intend to ask Woolworths why it remains steadfast in maintaining a R 12 million a year trade relationship with Israel, especially as the Zionist regime has continued to violate the human rights of millions of Palestinians. Researcher at Wits University, Professor Ciara Gatonby has found that the boycott of Woolworths has cost the company R 8 million a month.
