The Spirit chooses how He will manifest His attributes and gifts through each believer. Romans 12:3; Hebrews 2:4 & 1 Corinthians 12:11 illustrate God’s absolute sovereignty. Nevertheless, 1 Corinthians 12:31; 14:1 & 14:12 show that we need to cultivate a desire to be used by God, and a readiness and willingness to build up other people. It is a partnership. We need to ‘sow our lives’ in the right place—in Him—and to weed and remove pests when necessary; but we also need to depend on His warmth and water and power at all times.
