The Tale of a Runaway She stood in the background Drying her tears The back of the her hand Damp with pain Rising her foggy grey to The distant horizon She spied a silhouette The four legged friend Looked toward the setting sun Upset in the darkness, She strides toward her companion The creature lowering its head Found the two in a friends embrace The shadows call her She does not listen Leaping upward They find that one can carry another. Digging in deep They push forward Each knowing what is behind Neither wanting to know The darkness again The sunlight streams against a smiling face While the other who runs far faster Drinks in the warmth of the sun Letting the light dance Causing no one pain
