The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 - TopicsExpress

The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 establishes an obligation for the United States “...to ensure that unaccompanied alien children in the United States are safely repatriated to their country of nationality or of last habitual residence.” Further, “...no child shall be returned to the child’s country of nationality or of last habitual residence unless returned to appropriate employees or officials.” Not only is it unconscionable to consider returning children to imminent danger and instability when we have the opportunity to assist them, it is illegal to do so. As such, the state of MI should foster more opportunities to provide aid for these refugee children and treat them with compassion, as children require and deserve. on.freep/1lkjiIU
