The Unit Council of the Bridesburg Boys & Girls Club is pleased to announce the 2014 Honoree, John Binczewski. John is a native resident of Bridesburg. He was born, raised and continues to reside in the same zip code that offered to him as a child what he now offers back to the youth of this community - leadership, dignity, friendship and above all else…self-achievement. John grew up on the very dirt fields and courts of this neighborhood. Adorned in the attire of the Bridesburg Fathers Club, the Saint John Cantius CYO and the Bridesburg Boys & Girls Club, he played countless basketball and baseball games. His uniform meant more than just another neighborhood name…it represented where he came from and who it would help him to become someday. Being coached by some of the very elite prior recipients of the Carson Stewart Award, such as Jim Lovett, John has found himself able to come full circle from once player to now coach. John has made it his personal crusade to get as involved as he can in the very things he once knew as a child. Now, grown out of the uniform he once wore as a youth, he wears his “coach” shirt with pride. John has taken on numerous youth of different age and gender to share his knowledge of sports. He not only tries to teach what the rules of the game are - he also implants in them the importance of sportsmanship to fellow players and opponents. John’s accomplishments do not stop here. Join us at our 22nd Annual Carson Stewart Award Dinner on April 23rd to learn more about this year’s honoree. Call 215-743-7755 for ticket information.
