The University of California is handing over control of taxpayer funded scientific research to an unaccountable board of corporate leaders. Their focus is higher Return on Investment. Our purpose is to create innovations, new ideas, new insights - some of which will turn into new products that private companies can sell. But some will and should turn into solutions to our most pressing problems and serve society not shareholders.
