The Untouchables (1987) - A film based off the true story of federal agent Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) working with clever friends (including Sean Connery and Andy Garcia) to bring down Al Capone (Robert De Niro). The actors were fantastic, the unfolding events were not as predictable as they tend to be in action films, and I would recommend this movie. I did think it was bothersome that the movie ended with the “triumph” of the conviction of Al Capone, since simply bringing down the leader of a violent organization doesn’t tend to completely put a stop to the violence (and, it didn’t: Chicago Outfit continued after Capones conviction). The ending would have been very satisfying if that fact didn’t keep bugging me.
