The “Us versus Them” mentality is hurting the Liberals in the court of public opinion. The ugly aspect of the Hodgman Government in 2014 has been its inability to deliver what it said it would in the lead-up to the election. The first was the Government’s promise to reduce the public sector by (no more than) 500 full-time public servants and protect frontline staff. Less than 12 months into government and 1200 jobs are set to go — 861 this financial year. And frontline services, including teachers and nurses, are no longer quarantined.
