The appointment of Justin Partain as Fire Chief for the Pinehurst Fire Department was approved by the Pinehurst City Council. Partain replaces Giron Hadnot who is the city’s Fire Marshal and also served as the Fire Chief until a qualified candidate could be appointed as chief. More than qualified is Partain who has a number of fire fighting certifications, and previously worked for the West Orange Fire Department before joining the Pinehurst Fire Department. Partain has worked almost two decades as a fire fighter starting at age 14 for his grandfather who was also a fire chief. In other business the Pinehurst City Council discussed some 30 revisions to the Personnel Policy and Procedures Handbook. The changes were tabled until the December meeting so City Administrator Joe Parkhurst could review and check several of the items. The Council agreed to pay about 100 dollars monthly as the city’s share to be part of the British Petroleum Deepwater Horizon restoration funding.
