The church member has the risk of his salary being cut to zero because most people only have one or two sources of income. There is the risk that the amount of funds given to the church will change because most churches have hundreds or thousands of members making contributions. So what is the reason some churches insist that member make a pledge? The pledge cards are used because they result in more money being given. The pastor uses psychological ploys to get members to sign the pledge cards. The pastor give a highly emotional plea coupled with special entertainment to swoon the members into pledging large amounts. The members are told false doctrine that they will be blessed by God if they pledge a large amount, but they will be denied blessings if they dont. Later, the pastor uses the pledge cards as leverage to put the members on a guilt trip because some have not kept up with the pledged amount. This is bondage, folks. Pledge cards are a sinister and evil practice that is contrary to Scripture. If you walk by faith, the pastor should learn to budget the churches expenses by faith. Asking members to sign pledge cards and asking members to make an oath are proof the pastor lacks faith in God. He does not have the faith that God will provide. He depends on other men, not God.
