The cost of comms. staff for the government has risen $48 million since the Cons. took power. Even though I work in comms. - this is giving the taxpayer the finger from on high. Nearly $250 million on comms. is simply obscene. Dont sit back and let this circus of waste continue. Imagine what that money couldve done for charity, environmental protection or research, social services, healthcare or education. Its simply unacceptable. *From the Toronto Star: In June, the federal Department of Public Safety responded to an access to information request from Toronto Star reporter Alex Boutilier with a heavily censored version of a media backgrounder that is actually posted, in all its uncensored glory, on the prime minister’s website. One federal communications department takes its mandate not to communicate so seriously, it has produced and distributed posters with a telephone hotline number — reminding public servants whom they must call if a member of the media should ever phone and ask a question. Maybe it’s time for federal employees to declare independence – answer the phone, answer the questions, and save us all a few hundred million in unnecessary spin doctor salaries. #cdnpoli
