The decision of the BJP comes in the wake of the recent meeting of Narendra Modi in Hyderabad and his direction to party cadres from all states to take steps to woo Muslims. Hyderabad: The All India Majlis Itehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Party will have to struggle alot to either win or retain its existing seats during the next general elections with the Bharatiya Janata Party deciding to woo Muslimsin the city with the sole objective of winning their hearts and make them its vote bank in theall important Assembly Polls. The decision of the BJP comes in the wake of the recent meeting of Narendra Modi in Hyderabad and his direction to party cadres from all states to take steps to woo Muslims. The party has already started courting the youth in old city youth and have planned several programmes to gather their support. Speaking to Postnoon, the BJP National Secretary and former MLA from Musheerabad Assembly seat Dr K Lakshman confirmed the news and said that BJP is the only alternative toMIM in old city and would do everything to check its dominance in the next General Polls. “Yes, we have already chalked out plans to ensure the defeat of MIM Party in old city. The MIM had won elections by a secret understanding with the Congress all through these years. But it won’t happen anymore, as we have decided to reach out to Muslims of old city with a series of programmes and solve their problems,” he said. Dr Lakshman further added that initially the focus of the party would be on poor Muslims of the city. “The poorest of the poor among the Muslim community are always in need of support. So, our emphasis would be on solving their problems by ensuring the delivery of all government services at their door steps and fight for the redress of their other problems,” henoted. According to him, the party had already begun efforts to strengthen its base in old city from the grass-root level. Party General Secretary NVSS Prabhakar prophesied that the Muslims would vote for BJP,as the party had decided to strive for the comprehensive developments of Muslims. “Look at all the BJP-ruled states. Muslims are happy and prospering. They are not facing any problem like they do in Congress-ruled states. This is how Gujarat CM Narendra Modi won theirtrust in the form of votes. He asked us to replicate the same across the nation. According to Modi, when the Muslims of Gujarat can vote for him why can’t they vote for BJP in other parts of the state. We will follow in his footsteps,” he noted. Five seats target The party has targeted to wrest five assembly seats from the hands of the MIM party. These seats include Chandrayantgutta, Charminar, Karwaan, Bahadurpura and Nampally seats. According to the party leaders, the BJP has a strong base in all these constituencies and it can defeat the MIM by making concerted efforts. Reservations promise In a radical shift from its earlier stance on reservations to Muslims in educational and employment sector, the party is mulling reservations, too, albeit in a different manner inits manifesto. It has plans to provide reservations on the basis of socio- economic condiitons of Muslims instead of religious basedreservations.
