The difference for me. Ive been looking for the relevant quote but Steve Marshall, when asked for a response to Jay Weatherill new socially ethical initiatives, said something like I didnt get into politics for sociology, Im in it for business. This, more than anything, determines how I vote. Its quite clear that Labor are unveiling some wonderful, much overdue, social economic policies like solar power for Housing Trust homes, ethical loans to prevent financial pariahs like GE from profiting off the poor in our community, more FoodBank locations to make fresh food an easier, cheaper option for those in financial trouble and a lot of other initiatives, a few of which are listed below. - Solar electricity for housing trust homes - producing the solar panels here in SA, taking pressure off the grid, creating jobs, reducing Greenhouse emissions - Ethical loans for families so they dont turn to financial pariahs like GE - 3 more foodbank outlets - A new respite centre in city, northern disability hub, disability justice plan, NDIS commitment all for people with disabilities - Commitment to Gonski education program to give schools & children better facilities - Move the medipad closer to hospitals to make saving lives easier - 6 month rego option for boating and marine users who only need reg in summer - $3.25 m investment in recreational fishing - $117m investment in Flinders Medical Centre redevelopment Also as a disabled voter, using the early voting system, I cant say how much I appreciate knowing ahead of time the big policies. I know the tactics of releasing big money closer to the day but a lot of people have to vote prior to that. #justonepersonsopinion
