The first grade ref from the RMC match was talking to a few of us before the game and said hed heard Goulburn was going to be merged with Easts in Canberra. We laughed it off but he said he was sure it was being talked about. I dont know if he was talking about playing Goulburn in 3rds and 4ths beneath Easts (which would be bad for the club with 10.30am and midday games) or pooling players from the clubs combined four grades, which would not only be messy but mean we no longer control our own destiny. Hopefully he had his details all mixed up, but just in case it becomes a genuine topic or suggestion, I want to be on the record saying we should never merge with any club.
