The following is a short note sent to Bill Olsen, Mary Moran of the Rutland City Public Schools and the RCPD Command Staff by our own School Resource Officer Chris Greene in reference to the After School App Good Morning Bill, After seeing the news reports, then reading the e-mails this morning I have to tell you how honored I am to be affiliated with the Rutland City Public Schools. The leadership you and your staff showed during what at times felt like a precarious situation, with a potentially tragic outcome was clearly averted with the direction of Guidance Counselors, administration, and your empowerment of the student body to take a stand against a national epidemic. At a time when all bullying and harassment is at the forefront of many school districts, and on the plate of SRO’s throughout Country, these students took a stand and made a difference on the National scene (that’s big-time, Major League stuff) not only for themselves but for students they may not even know. You should be very proud, as I know you are, as well as the students, your staff, and all the teachers who touched the lives of these students for playing on the big stage and making a difference.
