The greatest strength of memory--its ability, to some degree, to bring the so-called past and all that we have learned experientially into the present--is also sometimes its greatest weakness. For it is memory that can cut us off from truly living in the present, from directly experiencing the unique impressions of what now offers us. We seldom see, touch, hear, think, or feel anything without memory shaping these perceptions. Instead of memory being simply a functional tool at our disposal, it is most often a determining factor, shaping our perceptions and our responses to life.--Dennis Lewis #DennisLewis
