The insurance mandate went into effect January 1, 2010. Since then, approximately 60 certified 1:1 interventionists (CABI) have been approved to provide services in Nevada. As a result, most agencies have waiting lists as there are insufficient staff to provide services. CCSD provided home based services for 18 years, servicing over 1,500 children, and funding at least 2,000 interventionists. These interventionists did not require state certifications to provide 1:1 therapy. Best outcome children from this funding testified on the Senate floor in support of the insurance mandate, proving the competency of the treatment framework for CCSD. ATAP currently has 331 interventionists providing services across the state. Certifications are not required for 1:1 ATAP interventionists.
