The kindness of strangers. I dont know their names but not one but two men today literally lifted up today. As I mentioned my back is shot to bleep. while seated in the doctors waiting room, I sat their reading a magazine. when my name was called I couldnt rise from the chair. The first man, a stranger offered to assist me. I took his strength and was able to rise from the chair with his help. And now for my doctors. My doctors today offered up real compassion as well. One grabbed my coat while the other carried my purse. I answered a new of their questions, describing where my pain was as well as the level of intensity (extreme). I had to make it to the exam table. I could barely lift my leg up to the small step. I made it onto the table and then this is where things got dicey. I was asked to lay down prone. on my back. When I did; my body begin to constrict and I began to shake with the amount of pain I was experiencing. The pain that was so intense that I was embarrassed by the number of tears I cried. Deep, Deep tears. These doctors then looked on with real compassion. Realizing that this pain I was experiencing was beyond the scope of their practice; but they worked to get me stable to be able to make it to the emergency room. Instead of rushing me they offered me time. Usually, with doctors today its all about the speed in which they can see their patients. Today, my doctors said hang speed - this patient needs time. The doctors decided on an injection to tide me over until I could arrive at the emergency room. I walked to the nurses station to get the injection. She had just one patient before me so, I sat down. When my name was called; yep, you guessed it - I couldnt rise out of the chair. Another patient once again helped me by offering his arm to assist getting me to my feet. Now, if im honest - the injection didnt work. But, the compassion offered today did work. #HumanityandCompassionIsAliveandWell!!
