The latest government stunt to try and con people - sorry, suck - TopicsExpress

The latest government stunt to try and con people - sorry, suck people in... has been revealed. They are now talking about a €100 bonus if you sign up to their scam. ...But is it really a bonus in the long term? The reality is this - you have to FIRST pay your water charge bill - and that alone entails that you by paying such a bill admit to liability of a now fourth charge for the same thing that many have already paid for three times (Tax, VAT and household charge). The reality is that for for those that will get it as a tax credit later on - a year later in fact - you will not see it in your pocket till at least the second water charge bill is already on the way! The €100 gimmick they are now trying to sell to the public is frankly, a load of cobblers. Its sugar on a stick just to suck you in so that for ever more you can be charged whatever the hell they like - and remember, for the first six years of Irish Water (the company alone), they have been given total free reign to do whatever the hell they like and not even be answerable to the likes of our national ombudsman. What does that mean? It means that they will - and you can bet your work packet on it - that you will see a constant upping of the water charges per year - or even more in any one year! The excuses for doing this will come like rain drops in Ireland. =============================================== Now, the government is trying to sell to the people that Irish Water is a semi-state - fair enough - they are entitled to their opinion but the facts are this... Irish Water if the government REALLY wanted, could have been set-up as a new governmental department. Something new that could have better stayed within elected representative responsibility. Did they do this? NO! Irish Water MIGHT be a semi-state body (debatable!) but one thing it sure damn is, is that its a private company - hell, it even states so on its own site. So why is this important! TWO reasons. (a) As regards the public, like any other company in Ireland its answerable to the Sale of Goods Act in Ireland - but also to European equivalent laws. (b) The selling off of a full semi-state into the private sector is a lot damn harder - but what if its ALREADY from the start a private company? Well then it and the resources it has to create profit, can be FAR more easier taken from the people of Ireland and sold off for private profit and bonuses. Does this all sound familiar or make sense? ================================================== So where do we go from here? What Ireland needs now is a referendum. The question on the referendum is this (or words to this effect)? Do you want your ALL natural resources to stay within state control, guaranteed under the state constitution, to be never sold off into the private sector or similar, to the advantage of one private profiteer or many as a private company? ================================================== If any government wishes to set-up a genuine fully new 100% semi-state - well thats fair enough within reason - but lets from the outset be clear with the public. * Irelands natural resources belong to its people and its NOT up for sale! * Irelands natural resources belong to its people and its NOT there so they can be quadruple charged for the same thing in exploitation! * Irelands natural resources belong to its people and its NOT there just for us today but for the financial security of our future generations to come. Lets stop screwing around. Lets stop the lies and financial back-stabbing. Lets do the right thing and put the nations people first, those now - and those to come! Jeff Rudd Friday Oct 31st 2014
