The magical run for the Current continues! The baseball team traveled back to Elsberry to face the top seeded team from Louisiana, MO. Crossroads jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, and thanks to a three run 4th inning, upped its lead to 5-1. It looked like the roof was falling as Louisiana punched in 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th and had two runners on. Freshman Milton Green relieved the battered junior Sam Shabsin (after he got hit by a line drive off the bat of teammate MJ Butler) and promptly shut the door. Shabsin fought through 3 2/3 innings before Green came in and shut the powerful team down for the last 3 1/3 innings to earn a 5-4 victory. Green, Shabsin, senior Hoben Rehfeld, and sophomore Gabe Felsher all contributed 2 hits. The defense again was solid while the team continued to create scoring opportunities with their speed and determination. What does this mean? It means that Crossroads will play the FIRST District Championship game in baseball in school history! We will play on Thursday at 5PM vs. Elsberry again at Elsberry. Its a bit of a drive, but if you have time, its worth it to see this team play this brand of baseball. Congratulations boys! Keep believing!
