The origin of this list is actually an interesting story. Its another version of the BBC Book List Challenge meme that spread on Facebook about 5 years ago. The claim was this: BBC said We believe most people will have read fewer than 6 of these 100 books. Turns out, they never said that! It was made up by some mysterious person. The list of books probably started as a copy of BBCs The Big Read list but then changed over time as it got shared and some people added their favorite book or removed ones they didnt like until it looked nothing like the original.
