The real body, as meditation practice shows us, is not an image. - TopicsExpress

The real body, as meditation practice shows us, is not an image. It is a set of experiences and sensations, a complex of inside and outside, a vast and nearly unknown plethora of activity. The heartbeat, the workings of the organs, the breath - these activities are also the body. Alternating sensations of cold and heat, hardness and softness, heaviness and lightness; thoughts associated with aches or pains; emotions that tense or relax the limbs or organs; wishes, dreams, and fleshly desires - all of this, too, is the body. Who can compass the bodys dimension? Who can explain its functioning? - Norman Fischer, from the book, Taking our Places.
