The roar of vintage speedboats reverberated lightly in the Antique Boat Museum’s “Quest for Speed” exhibit, where the history of the sport is on display. Outside, on a clear, still August afternoon, descendants of the display’s venerated forebears skimmed the water of French Creek Bay, their racing prowess scarcely diminished by the years. The 12th edition of the Antique Boat Regatta brought enthusiasts from all over the country and demonstrators — for there are no “races” at the regatta — from as far away as Australia.
