The single worst thing that our kind of punk rock has done to us is convince us that drinking is an appropriate response to our problems, even when we know full well that it will make everything worse and - on top of that - maybe even *because* it will make things worse. The notion that self-destructive behavior is cool. I know were all prone to that shit anyway but we definitely didnt need 1,000 songs to reinforce it. Which isnt to fault anyone that *has* written those songs (like me). I realize we all write from our experience and Im not gonna tell anyone that their art is wrong cause it fosters or promotes irresponsibility and trouble. I guess I just wish we were all a little happier sometimes. Myself included. Life can be tough and I certainly dont have it all figured out but if I could give anyone a piece of advice itd be to do your best to actually deal with life instead of running away from it with a bottle or a needle. Your life wont get *easy* but it will get better.
