The speech of Atty. Leni Robredo reflects her compassion and respect for womens rights. The Filipino women have come a long way in expressing their unified voices to express their rights in areas of: domestic violence, parenting, substance abuse, poverty and other pertinent issues that impact their lives and family. I am one who is an advocate for womens rights; women who suffer in silence for many reasons only they know; women whose voices have been dampened by cultural expectations or branded trouble makers because they express their opinion, needs, and wants. I hope this speech will wake up those whose masculine tendency in oppressing women will realize the significance of women and how we, as women are pillars of our homes and country.
