The teenager who was acquitted of the murder of Aran Islands native, Ciarán Conneely in Boston has been sentenced to six years in prison in relation to other charges. John Graham was acquitted of the murder of Ciarán Conneely in March but a Judge in Boston this week imposed a six year sentence for an armed attack committed by Graham in the same area of the city. John Graham, a native of the Dorchester area, is now 19. He was accused of shooting dead Ciarán Conneely from Inis Meáin in Dorchester on the 10th of October, 2011. Graham was also accused of shooting two other men in Dorchester three weeks after Ciarán Conneely’s murder. Police claimed there was evidence that all three – including Ciarán Conneely – were shot by bullets from the same gun. But the jury found John Graham not guilty of murdering Ciarán Conneely. However, Graham was later convicted of shooting and injuring the two other men in Dorchester. Prosecutors asked for a sentence up to ten years in relation to that incident. But a Judge in Boston this week sentenced John Graham to a maximum of 6 years in prison. She said she took his homeless life and toxic environment into consideration.
