The truth of India is that a huge majority doesnt even understand freedom properly. Most people in India equate freedom with self-rule. As for concepts like freedom of speech & thought, the less said about the average Indians conception, the better. We largely tend to see criticism as a curtailment of the freedom of speech. We largely seek restrictions to the freedom of speech. We largely tend to ignore the sovereignty of an entity over its property while demanding freedom of speech on it. Our conception of the freedom of speech is flawed to the core.
