The unpredictability of youth and the transition to a new defense are taking its toll on both Bruce Carter and Morris Claiborne. Claiborne, the second-year corner who was the No. 6 overall pick last year, has officially been demoted to second string. Orlando Scandrick will start in Claiborne’s place. Meanwhile, it seems as if Ernie Sims will start on the weak side for Carter. That could change, as the status of strong-side linebacker Justin Durant may impact that plan. However, Sims worked out all week with the starters.
