The way weve always approached halloween in my family. It is a demonically inspired holiday, no one who studies its origins can truly argue that. So as a Christian we do not decorate our house/yard etc. But we did buy our sons a costume every year and take them to a fall festival or to a few houses of church people who we trusted to show off their outfits. Its difficult to tell small children why we would not let them get candy or play dress up like other kids-- so we let ours do it. I understand why some parents have that conviction(not doing anything for halloween), but for us it was our heart strings that helped us make that choice. As they grew and lost interest, we explained to them why we dont go to haunted houses or such. Now, halloween comes and goes like any other day for us. Not saying all that to condemn anyone it just came up today. You may feel its completely harmless? You might be all out against even fall festivals? Research it and decide for yourselves. But the Bible warns us about opening our hearts and spirits up to the occult. What seems harmless today could be used by satan to bring dark things into your life or the lives of your loved ones. Keep a guard over your hearts. :)
