The willful ignorance in Yellow Springs is nauseating at this point. All those who are against Issue 13 and in the same breath say its because I havent heard, dont know about, or have no idea what they are about/going to do etc.... make me insane, Heres a fantastic idea. ASK!!!!!!!! Go to the website yscbe, call me, email me, email Megan Bachman, email some one on the website, make a phone call. But dont stand there with your thumb in your butt waiting for the sky to fall! People are becoming a bunch of fear mongering lie spreaders, just like the fox news anchors they hate. This issue #13 is NOT about building buildings, its not about a strip mall, its not duplicating downtown, were not signing our life away on debt, it is a minimal risk for the return, it has always been an agreement between the Village, the township and CR to build the infrastructure and the so called business park, the Village chose and created CR in 1999 making it the designated CIC for THIS project, it was conceptualized as a 2nd/ 3rd stage company location not a small incubator concept, it is meant to bring jobs/offset taxes/offset utility costs/bring diversity, it can be the kind of industry hub that we would like it to be, we dont have to follow any other model, the land is owned by CR and will never be used for a solar farm/growing tomatoes/or any other idea that will NOT bring jobs and offset taxes (unless CR is forced to sell it and in which case it can be whatever it will be...which could also be a strip mall), the governing covenants of CR is the ONLY thing that allows the land NOT to be a stripmall/retail/hospitality/grocery/restaurant/storefronts, the township also pledged 50k for the project when it begins, the Army Corps of Engineering Grant IS IN the Villages name specifically granted for this project not CRs, it is NOT public spending for private property nor gain, the 300k that was borrowed from the Village for the purchase of the land that was owned by Vernay was a joint decision between the Village and CR, this was always the plan, it will not be paid back until land is sold, the financing of it is not set yet so alllll the BS about TIF financing is preemptive fear mongering. IT IS HOWEVER ALLOWING THE VILLAGE COUNCIL, WHO ALREADY VOTED FOR THE INQUIRY OF PARTIAL FINANCE OF A PUBLIC ROADWAY AND PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE TO GO AHEAD AND RESEARCH THE INFORMATION, FOR IT TO BE BUILT ON PUBLIC LAND.
